- "It is necessary to demonsrtate that the participants in this experiment transcended the conscious limits of their preconceived stereotyped roles and their awareness of the artificiality and limited duration of imprisonment. We feel there os abundant evidence that virtually all of the the subjects at one time or another experiences reactions which went well beyond the surface demands of role-playing and penetrated deep structure of the psychology of imprisonment" (91). AP: "feeling" as a ground?
- Power structure in this fake prison: "It seems to us, that prisoners learned to admire power for its own sake - power becoming the ultimate reward. Real prisoners soon learn the means to gain power whether through ingratiation, informing, sexual control of other prioners or development of powerful clicques. When they are released from prison, it is unlikely they will ever want to fell so powerless again and will take action to establish and assert a sense of power" (94).
