Characters v. Psyches

I felt that these women were playing characters, which made their psyches somehow impenetrable to me. 

True - dance is about character revealing through actions, not about inner side.  Psychology is hidden by the character and its steps, even if they are as natural as they can possibly be.  It may play with the fantasy and irreal but not with the inside.
